Academy Lead Mentor

The Lead Mentor is the pedagogical leader of the Apple Academy. The teaching team provides subject matter expertise and coaching for each key area of coding, design, and professional skills. The lead mentor will be responsible for providing direct supervision for all instructional staff at the Academy, and will be partnering with the operation manager to ensure the smooth running of the academy. This position is responsible for all matters related to the quality of teaching and learning, evaluation, professional development, and learning outcomes. This position is responsible for the effective implementation of the curriculum and the challenge-based learning pedagogical practices.

The lead mentor will also attend to professional development of the teaching team and participate in decisions related to budget and staffing. The Lead Mentor is responsible for building connections to stakeholders, the local community, and the greater global community via the Apple Academy International Network. This candidate is responsible for organizing the mentors’ team, student work, and the over-arching program timelines and deliverables. This role also requires the ability to work with the Apple team to design and implement a Challenge-based learning curriculum. Ideally, the candidate should have more than 10 years’ experience in managing an educational organization, but experience in corporate environments will be considered.

  • Proven experience in empowering students, mentees, or staff to reach their potential.
  • Experience in education leadership—planning, leading, organizing, and monitoring teamwork to a successful and on-time project completion.
  • Demonstrated ability as an instructional leader to oversee and collaborate with staff.
  • Experience in curriculum design desirable. Deep interest in new pedagogical models.
  • A passion to challenge the status quo and to experiment with new and exciting teaching and learning practices.
  • Experience in Challenge Based Learning, experiential learning models, or enquiry based learning a plus.
  • Demonstrated agility and problem-solving ability to resolve issues or conflicts with multiple stakeholders and internal staff/learners
  • High-level strategic thinking and planning. Ability to envision and implement the organization’s future.
  • Strong communication ability. Ability to effectively communicate the organization’s mission to external stakeholders and the overall community as well as staff and learners.
  • Solid organizational abilities, including planning, delegating, and program development.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills in English and local language.
  • Strong work ethic with a high degree of energy.
  • Transparent and high-integrity leadership.
  • Combination of Industry and Academic experience is preferred.
  • Area of expertise linked to Academy curriculum (coding, design, business, or marketing) preferred but not essential
  • Proficient in English and local language.
