This year, BINUS INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL was honored to host the International Youth Leaders Forum (IYLF) 2012. The event took place on September 10-14, 2012 in two campuses: BINUS INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL Serpong and BINUS INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL Simprug.

Using the theme “Life in 2012 21: Sharing Our Planet” and the sub-theme “Agents of HOPE”, BINUS INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL worked alongside HOPE Worldwide discussing five global and local issues, namely education, economy, health, infrastructure and environment.

IYLF 2012 was attended by representatives of schools from a number of different countries, such as Suzhou Foreign Language School (China), Hwa Chong Institution (Singapore), Bugil Academy (Korea), BINUS INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL Serpong and Simprug (Indonesia) and Brisbane Grammar School (Australia).

China sent 8 students, Singapore with 8, Korea with 7, Indonesia with 8 and Australia 5 students. Each country also sent a teacher chaperone to accompany students. The event was officially opened on September 10, 2012 at BINUS INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL Simprug by Mr. Peter Matthew Saidi (Principal of BINUS INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL Simprug) as the Chair of the IYLF Committee accompanied by Ms. Sherrie Garcia (Principal of BINUS INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL Serpong), Co-Chair.

During the event, delegates discussed these topics in seminars, discussions, field trips and culture festivals. “With this forum, hopefully the delegates are able to expand their network, develop their leadership skills, and improve their socio-cultural awareness so they can be agents of hope on their own countries,” explained Mr. Peter.
